Inks Dam National Fish Hatchery
Located in the Texas Hill Country along the Colorado River, Inks Dam National Fish Hatchery has been raising fish for conservation since 1938. Originally established to stock the Highland Lakes, the hatchery now plays a vital role in restoring native aquatic species and supporting Tribal fisheries throughout the Southwest.
In addition to producing channel catfish for Tribal stocking programs, the hatchery maintains a refuge population of the federally endangered Clear Creek gambusia and propagates several species of native Texas freshwater mussels. Visitors can also enjoy hiking trails, wildlife viewing, river access, and scenic picnic areas throughout the property.
