Uvalde National Fish Hatchery
Uvalde National Fish Hatchery is located in south Texas near the Edwards Aquifer. They have been protecting and restoring aquatic wildlife since 1938. Originally established to stock fish for ponds and reservoirs across the Southwest, the hatchery has evolved into a leading conservation facility focused on endangered fish, amphibians, insects, and plants.
Today, Uvalde raises channel catfish for public fishing events while maintaining refuge populations of threatened and endangered species found in the Edwards Aquifer ecosystem. Visitors can enjoy a visitor center with educational exhibits, scenic walking trails, bird blinds, and opportunities to observe native wildlife in a peaceful setting.
